When I set out to create a list of the best dog food, I didn’t realize how difficult it would be. One factor that became apparent was that some brands that were trusted as being 100% American Made only a few years ago, have switched to using imported ingredients. Other companies have been bought out by larger corporations who plan on capitalizing on the brands’ established consumer trust and loyalty that has been built over many years. Both of these scenarios are misleading and prey on the trust of consumers who have been purchasing their products for years.
My list of the Best Dog Food
So while this list may not be completely inclusive of all 100% American manufactured and sourced food on the market, I do believe that they are some of the best dog foods available today.
Back to Basics Dry Dog Food
Back to Basics Dog Food (Dry) has earned a 5 out of 5 star rating from DogFoodAdvisor. Back to basics provide both high-protein and grain/gluten-free dry dog foods. Back to Basics contains a protein content of 42%. This dog food is high in meat content which not only leads to being a good part of your dog’s diet, but also higher costs to purchase. While I highly recommend it to those who can afford it, it may not be affordable by all.

Grandma Lucy’s Dog Food
Grandma Lucy’s isn’t your typical dry dog food. This food is designed to be hydrated with warm water and receives a 4.5 out of 5 star rating from DogFoodAdvisor. All ingredients have originated from the USA, have been USDA inspected and manufactured in California. It should be noted that the selling weight is not equivalent to the final hydrated weight. The 3lb bag of Artisan food is equivalent to 17lbs of fresh food.
